Exdeath knew he was defeated. Bartz's crystal had mastered his job class, allowing him to use the Goblin Punch, among other things. If the crystal hadn't done that he could have won. Now he saw the warriors approaching. He knew they were not afraid of him, drained as he was. But that would prove to be their undoing. He laughed as he summoned a rift in the Void. The summoning may destroy him, but he wold be together with the Void.
The Warrior of Light slowly led the group heading toward Exdeath. It seemed safe to say that they had beaten Exdeath, but one could never underestimate one of Chaos's warriors. His fears were justified when the tree opened up a gateway to the Void, threatening to engulf the party.  The warrior stepped back, his comrades already heading to the edge of the castle. But instead of engulfing them, the Void spat out something, which fell on Exdeath. Weakened so much by the summoning, Exdeath faded away.
The thing the void spat out was a man. He was roughly six feet, wearing a white, tattered gown that one usually finds in a hospital (hopefully in it's untattered state). He had normal brown hair, and two curved teardrops under his eyes. Other than that there was nothing special about him. Currently he was laying facedown in the grass that was on top of the castle. Slowly the warriors surrounded the man, unsure of what he exactly was.
Finally Cloud spoke, "Is he even alive?" They all looked at each other, until their gazes fell on... Bartz. Naturally he voiced his opinion. "What!?! Why me?!?" he loudly exclaimed as he stared at the people he once called comrades. The Warrior of Light gave his answer "Your Goblin Punch is the fastest attack any of us have. You are the most likely person to counterattack him."
Bartz lowered his head in defeat, heading cautiously to the fallen man. He dismissed his blade and flipped the man over. He laid his head on the man's chest to search for a pulse, when Squall interrupted.
"It's safer to check the neck for a pulse." Bartz nodded, and checked. The man had a pulse, but showed no other signs of life. By now the group had relaxed and were discussing what to do with him.
"We can't just leave him here," Zidane said. It just wasn't right for people to leave others behind in his book. Cloud, Terra, Bartz, Cecil and Tidus agreed with him. Squall, however, disagreed. "He was summoned by the enemy. It wouldn't be wise to take him. Anyways, we need to reach Chaos quickly." Firion and the Onion Knight agreed, it was only a matter of time before the other warriors of Chaos found them. They then all turned to the warrior. As the leader, they all were waiting on his decision. The warrior thought. He didn't want to put his comrades in danger, but he had a feeling that Cosmos would want them to help the man. "We will bring him," the warrior announced. "Cloud, you will carry him."  Cloud wordlessly put the man on his back and headed off with the rest of the warriors.

Once they got out of the gate, they decided to take a rest for the night. The Onion Knight volunteered for first watch, so they pitched a few tents around the area. After a while everyone was asleep, except for the Onion Knight. But he was looking out for enemies. And not looking at the man. If he did, he would have seen the man glow slightly, before several orbs of energy came off him. The ten orbs quietly circled the camp, finding the crystals. Quietly they merged with them, causing them to glow slightly. For some reason Bartz's crystal glowed longer than the others before everything returned to normal. For the rest of the night, it was quiet.
